Board Meeting Schedule
The board meets virtually the second Wednesday of every month via Zoom. Parents are encouraged to attend online by viewing the live stream on the Carolina Charter Academy Board website. Dates and times are subject to change at the board's discretion.
Carolina Charter Academy's Board of Directors has chosen to continue holding virtual board meetings because they make it easier to reach a wider range of stakeholders. Virtual board meetings offer the following benefits:
- Increased accessibility: Virtual meetings allow stakeholders to participate from anywhere in the world, regardless of their location or schedule. This is especially beneficial for stakeholders who live in distant areas or who have difficulty traveling. Additionally, virtual meetings allow for a greater number of viewers than in-person meetings, which are limited by the available space of the building.
- Flexibility: Virtual viewers can watch the video at their convenience, pause or rewind as needed, and revisit previous videos. This makes it easier for viewers to understand the meeting materials and to participate in the discussion.
- Efficiency: Virtual meetings can be more efficient than in-person meetings because there is no need to travel. Additionally, in-person meetings require the building to remain open, which can interfere with the custodial staff, which is why an in-person meeting is strictly kept to one hour. Holding the board meeting virtually frees up the Board to take more time for discussion and ensure informed decisions.
Overall, virtual board meetings are a more inclusive and efficient way to conduct business. They allow stakeholders to participate from anywhere and at their convenience. This makes it easier for the Board to reach a wider range of stakeholders and to make more informed decisions.
CCA Board of Directors welcomes public comments and will read any comments that come through before the meeting is adjourned. To ensure an orderly presentation (whether the meeting is in person or virtual) board members will not respond to individuals who address the board during the meeting. During virtual meetings, comments received on the live feed are responded to after the meeting.
