ENROLLMENT

Waitlist applications for the 2023-2024 school year are closed. Open enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year will begin in January 2024.

All enrollment is based on seats available and a lottery will be conducted if the number of applications exceeds the number of open seats. Any family that hopes to get a seat at CCA during the 2024-2025 school year is encouraged to apply during the open enrollment period.

Applying during the open enrollment period will enter your child into the respective lottery to be held in February, 2024. Preference will be given to siblings of those currently enrolled at CCA. You need not be present to accept your child’s seat if their name is selected in the lottery. We will email you if you receive a seat, or if you have been waitlisted.

Visit our Enrollment FAQs for answers to common questions.

After Open Enrollment ends and the public lottery is held, students may continue apply and they will be accepted if seats are open, or added to the respective waitlists in the order they apply.

In order to apply to Carolina Charter Academy, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a resident of the state of North Carolina at the time of application.
  • Kindergarten students must be five years old by August 31st of the year they apply.

Please do not apply if your child does not meet the criteria above. Your application will be removed.

Applications do not roll over from one year to the next. If you did not receive a seat at CCA for the 2023-24, you must reapply for the 2024-25 school year.

Open Enrollment

CCA open enrollment for the

Who May Enroll At Carolina Charter Academy

Each charter school in North Carolina is open to any student who lives in the state. According to NC law, applicants must live in North Carolina at the time of application. Carolina Charter Academy is located in Southern Wake County. Our target population is any student living in the Fuquay Varina, Holly Springs, Harnett and Johnston County area that desires a rigorous, college and career-ready education.

How the Lottery Process Works

When Carolina Charter Academy’s lotteries are run, applicants in a preference category are placed first in random order, and then all other students are placed in random order by a program. However many applicants can be accommodated by the number of empty slots are placed immediately. Applicants can also confirm by emailing the school to let us know if they are accepting the seat.

If applicants decline or fail to confirm within the allotted time, they are removed from the roster and the next applicant moves into the vacant spot and will then have to confirm. Once an applicant accepts their seat, an enrollment form will be sent to gather information about that student, which needs to be submitted to the school in order to retain the seat.

More information about CCA and answers to commonly asked questions can be found on our FAQ page.

What is Carolina Charter Academy’s Enrollment policy?

All notifications will go out via Schoolmint portal. If a parent has opted into email and/or text they will receive as such. It is highly recommended that you opt in to additional notifications to ensure receiving them.

If the school does not receive enrollment confirmation and the paperwork back in the specified period, the School may decline enrollment to the student and offer the spot to the next student on the waitlist. If enrollment is declined and then a parent later decides they would like to send their student, after all, they will be asked to submit a new application, and they will be placed on the waitlist in the next available spot

Where can I find the enrollment packet?

Once you accept the seat on the parent dashboard

  • you will then be directed to the enrollment packet online.

How do you accept or decline?

You must accept or decline on your parent dashboard as emailing your response is not recorded in the system.

I completed the enrollment packet but I'm missing a form. Can I submit?

You may submit if you are missing a health assessment/immunization form at this time. They are due within the first 30 days of the 2023-2024 school year.

What is the sibling policy for new families?

  • A separate application must be submitted for each twin or multiple-birth child.
  • If there are no spaces available at the grade level for which the student is applying, the lottery will generate a waitlist number assigned to that student based on the order in which his/her name is selected for the grade they are applying for. This will be the student’s wait list number for the 2024-25 school year. Per state law, North Carolina Charter Schools are not permitted to carry-over wait lists year to year; therefore, it is necessary to apply for each school year.
  • If one child in a family receives an admissions offer, other siblings are not automatically included in the offer. Other family siblings will only receive an offer if their waitlist number moves up to an offer for the grade they are applying. If no offer is made, they will be considered “siblings” for the next year (after one child in the family is attending) and will receive sibling priority in the lottery for the following academic year.
  • Please keep in mind, most natural attrition or movement will happen over the summer; we will continue to use the waitlist to fill any openings.

What is the sibling policy for currently enrolled families?

Siblings of students currently attending Carolina Charter Academy will be given sibling priority for placement in subsequent years. While we are hopeful to place these siblings within a year, it is possible that it could take longer, depending upon the number of siblings for a specific grade level and the number of available slots that year.

If my child is offered admission from the waitlist, will that carry over until next year?

No. The waitlist does not carry over to the following year. Per state law, you will have to submit a new application every year for the appropriate grade. Once you are enrolled at Carolina Charter Academy, you are guaranteed a slot in subsequent years (as long as you remain a North Carolina resident) and do not have to reapply.

Where can I find my waitlist number?

To locate your waitlist number please check your parent dashboard:

When will the waitlist application open?

After Open Enrollment ends and the public lottery is held, students may continue apply and they will be accepted if seats are open, or added to the respective waitlists in the order they apply.

Any students applying after the open enrollment period will be placed in their respective grade if there is still space available. Otherwise, they will be put directly after any waitlisted students from the lottery in the order the application was received.

Do you conduct school tours?

Tours will be offered at a later date.
